Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. A global campaign, marked by The International Labour Organisation (ILO), to promote safe working environments and the prevention of occupational hazards.
Sadly, everyday 6,300 people die as a result of accidents in the workplace. That’s more than 2.3 million deaths per year. The economic cost is huge - an estimated 4% of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) each year.
The creation of an effective wellbeing and safety culture should be embraced at all levels where employers and workers actively respect and participate in securing a safe and healthy work environment.
